Happy Veterans Day, 2020!  A recognition by NCTA and the campus community spanned several days this week.

In the absence of a public observance in Curtis due to COVID-19 concern, a 2020 Veterans Day community service project was planned by the NCTA Diversity Committee.

Elementary students wrote thank you notes, committee chair Rachel Faber contacted the American Legion Posts in Maywood and Curtis to obtain lists of the veteran membership and she ordered supplies for gift bags.

Aggie students, staff and NCTA Ranch Horse Team members assembled the appreciation packets on Monday.

Pairs or individuals made personal deliveries to the homes or businesses of veterans residing in rural areas and regional communities of Curtis, Maywood, Wellfleet, Stockville, Moorefield, Farnam, Cambridge and some to North Platte.

Five packets were mailed to veterans who now live out of the area but continue as members of the American Legion post. Faber estimates nearly 90 gift bags for veterans were created, delivered or mailed.

The NCTA representatives would like to be notified of veterans they may not have been aware of in planning the 2020 recognition for Veterans Day.

Contact can be made to the NCTA Dean’s Office at 308-367-5200, in care of Rachel Faber, NCTA Diversity Committee chair.

The committee members are Erika Arambula, Rachel Faber, Tyler Faber, Sarah Campbell, Judy Bowmaster-Cole, Mary Crawford, Joanna Hergenreder, Eric Reed, Sarai Reed, Mary Rittenhouse, and Dan Stehlik.
