The 2020 recipient of the Bruntz Family Teaching Award, Brad Ramsdale, Ph.D. was an obvious choice for this week’s NCTA Staff Spotlight. Read more to learn about his background and favorite memories on campus.

What are your roles and duties within the Aggie community?

I teach all of the agronomy and plant science-related curriculum at NCTA.  I serve as the crops team coach, faculty advisor of Farm Bureau Club, and assist the college in multiple ways by serving on committees.

When did you begin at NCTA?

I began in August 2007.

What is your favorite memory or highlight of your work on campus?

One highlight was during the awards banquet of the 2015 NACTA contests (North American Colleges and Teachers of Agriculture).  Seeing my crops students repeatably go to the stage to receive awards including a 2nd place team finish by only two points, which is the equivalent of one student getting one more question correct, was very rewarding.  It showed me that we could compete with the best and the enthusiasm generated by that team carried forward with the next three teams winning national titles.

Share a hobby or activity that you enjoy in your free time.

I enjoy golfing, fishing, and working with youth at church in my free time.
