NCTA graduation events May 2-3

CURTIS, Neb. – Nearly 90 degrees and certificates will be conferred May 3 in Curtis to graduates of the Nebraska College of Technical Agriculture.

Mike Boehm, University of Nebraska-Lincoln Harlan Vice Chancellor for the Institute of Agriculture and Natural Resources and University of Nebraska vice president for Agriculture and Natural Resources, will attend two events honoring the Class of 2018 and NCTA students.

Vice President Boehm will join NCTA Dean Ron Rosati in recognizing students at the 2018 NCTA Awards Night at 7 p.m. on May 2. He will deliver remarks at the 2018 Commencement on May 3 at 1:30 p.m.

“Our campus community will celebrate Aggie accomplishments such as Aggie of the Year, and honors earned at recent national competitions,” Rosati said. “We look forward to welcoming back to campus our University of Nebraska Vice President Mike Boehm.”

The evening awards program celebrates academic accomplishments of students in Agribusiness Management, Agronomy and Agricultural Mechanics, Animal Science and Agriculture Education, Veterinary Technology and General Education.

Division chairs of the five academic areas are, respectively, Mary Rittenhouse, Brad Ramsdale, Doug Smith, Barbara Berg and Eric Reed.

The statewide, two-year college, which is part of the University of Nebraska system, will confer about 90 degrees or certificates to graduates who completed programs in December or May.

Regent Bob Phares of North Platte will deliver commencement remarks from the University of Nebraska Board of Regents. Keynote speaker will be State Senator Dan Hughes of Venango.

The public ceremony will be followed by a reception, also at the Curtis Memorial Community Center.
