NCTA inducts 22 to Phi Theta Kappa

CURTIS, Neb. – Twenty two students were inducted Wednesday as new members into the Alpha Iota Tau Chapter of Phi Theta Kappa honor society at Curtis.
Students of the Nebraska College of Technical Agriculture gathered with parents, friends and current PTK members at the Education Center auditorium.
The academic honorary recognizes academic achievements of students attending a two-year college. It provides opportunities for growth and development through honors, leadership and service.
“Phi Theta Kappa is the largest honor society in American higher education with more than 2.5 million members and 1,275 chapters,” said Eric Reed, faculty advisor and chair of General Education.
He cited well-known PTK alumni in successful careers and higher education, including NCTA Dean Ron Rosati who attended the ceremony.

Installation was conducted by 2017-2018 officers President Nate Letcher, Hay Springs; Vice President Riley Abbott, Hay Springs; Secretary/Treasurer Erica Mowery, Middleburg, Pennsylvania; and Student Senate Representatives Kaitlyn Thesenvitz, Wood River, and Emily Bauer, Lincoln.
New leaders of the campus organization for 2018-2019 were introduced as:
President Dorothy Fulton, Vice President Peyton McCord, Secretary Leighlynn Obermiller, Historian Kendra Marxsen, and Student Senate Representatives Shayla Woracek and Baleigh Miller.
The Phi Theta Kappa installation preceeded Wednesday night's student awards night. Graduation is at 1:30 p.m. Thursday at the Curtis Memorial Community Center.
