CURTIS, Neb. - The Aggie Shooting Sports Team started their season on the weekend of September 8 with a freshman-only shoot in Hays, Kansas.
They look forward to their next match at the Prairie Circuit Invite near Lake Maloney south of North Platte on September 29 and 30.
This year’s officer team is comprised of three returning Nebraska students: President Angela Crouse of Haigler, Treasurer Kaylee Hostler of Central City, and Secretary Kaylee Rasmussen of Burwell.
A first-year student will be voted on as team vice president later this semester after a few matches have been underway, said Alan Taylor, Shooting Sports Team coach.
The team is also lead by last year’s top male shooter Shawn Barger, a third-year veterinary technology student from Wahoo.
Fourteen freshman have joined the Aggie Shooting Sports Team, raising the member count to 20 for this semester, said Club President Angela Crouse.
“The freshman are showing great potential and drive to improve!” Crouse said.
During the Curtis Fall Festival, the NCTA team members hosted a fundraising event at the Curtis Gun Club. They hosted 33 participants “for a fantastic turnout at the fall festival,” said Taylor.
The participants shot more than 100 rounds of clay targets. Proceeds assist the club with expenses.
One new aspect for the 2018-19 season is the addition of archery. The new vice president will be the representative for archery sports.
The Aggies will be competing on the road in the upcoming months in Brainard and Grand Island and are looking forward to another great year!
