CURTIS, Neb. - Rebekah Daniels of Mullen, Neb., has been named the Nebraska College of Technical Agriculture’s Aggie of the Month for October.

The honor was announced by NCTA Dean Ron Rosati.

Daniels will complete her collegiate studies in December with two associate degrees, in livestock industry management and agribusiness management systems.

She was nominated by Kevin Martin, NCTA student services advisor.

“Rebekah is the example of a responsible, accountable member of our campus community,” Martin said.

Her campus activities include Phi Theta Kappa honor society and serving as an ambassador in the NCTA Welcome Center. Aggie Ambassadors assist with special projects around campus and guide tours.

“Rebekah has worked part time in the Welcome Center the past two years where she answers phones, takes on any project willingly, and is a main cog in the tour process when called upon,” Martin said in his nomination.

Originally, the graduate of Mullen High School, studied accounting and agribusiness at the University of Nebraska-Kearney for three semesters.

Then, in January, 2017, she decided to transfer to NCTA in Curtis focusing on cow-calf production and her role at her family’s ranch located 30 miles northeast of Mullen.

She plans to expand her own cow herd and eventually own the ranch after her parents retire.

“NCTA has what I wanted to study, which is most relevant to our family’s ranch and its operation,” Daniels said of her transition from Kearney.  “Here, we have livestock, hands-on programs, and a rural emphasis.”

Most of her class credits transferred to NCTA, since both colleges are part of the University of Nebraska system. With classes done in December, she plans to attend Aggie graduation on May 2.

“My plan is to move back to Mullen when I finish next month,” Daniels said. “I want to head back to help on the ranch. My favorite time is calving season, which I look forward to in the spring.”

Daniels is one of several students who will be recognized as an Aggie of the Month during the 2018-2019 academic year.  She will receive a certificate from the NCTA Dean’s Office.
