As the Crop Insect Pest Research Technician, you will support the day-to-day lab operation by:
• Assist with research activities in the lab, greenhouse, and field.
• Organize and maintain lab, greenhouse space, and field plots to meet research needs.
• Maintain insect colonies and plants for experiments.
• Operate farm machinery including tractors, mowers, sprayers, trucks, and 4-wheelers.
• Manage and purchase lab supplies.
• Coordinate and support students, interns, postdocs and their research projects.

Minimum qualifications:
• Associate degree in entomology, agronomy, plant & soil science, horticulture, biology, or related field; plus two (2) years of experience in crop protection, production, or related field required OR high school diploma plus four (4) years of experience in crop protection, production, or related field.
• Knowledge and/or experience in general plant care in greenhouse and farm operations.
• Experience must demonstrate good organizational and problem-solving skills, and the ability to be trained for new skills required for research.
• Effective communication skills and ability to work in team settings.

Preferred qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree in entomology, agronomy, plant & soil science, horticulture, biology, or related fields.

$18.50/hr minimum; contingent on candidate's experience and qualification
