Our Cattle Distribution team has a horseback opportunity with the responsibilities of movement, verification and shipment of cattle, as well as coordination and promoting teamwork and communication. When Bill Adams and our employees designed our load out facility in Broken Bow, Nebraska, they built it with a focus on technology, efficiency and animal welfare. Prior to our cattle leaving the lot, each animal is electronically verified to make sure they are ready to go to the packing plant. Our Cattle Distribution team works in this state of the art facility and we’re looking for a self-motivated individual who enjoys working in a fast-paced environment.

This person will be responsible for:

Coordinating and delegating the Cattle Distribution personnel and operations including: promoting teamwork, maintaining efficiency of personnel to maximize production goals, and assisting in all operations.

Ensuring the daily operations in cattle movement, shipment, and verification are conducted accurately and consistently.

Maintaining and providing cleanliness of the whole facility including horse barn.

Operating skidsteer and/or loader for cleaning of facilities; operating light wagon and ATV for movement of cattle.

Assisting overnight snow removal/cleaning of lot as determined by Company needs.

Coordinating and performing preventative maintenance on light wagon and pickup.

Rotating the on-call responsibilities for unloading incoming cattle on weekends.

Monitoring and maintaining reports and information flow to computers by inputting records in accordance with regulations and protocols.

Coordinating with East Lot leadership when assistance is needed shipping cattle from the East yard.

Assisting with other responsibilities as needed.

Ideal candidate would possess the following qualifications:

Previous team leadership experience is preferred.

Previous horseback feedlot, sale barn, and/or ranch experience is preferred.

Cattle handling knowledge and experience (Beef Quality Assurance).

Knowledge of sick or injured cattle, including basic animal health diagnosis.

Commitment to safety and quality culture.

Intermediate to advanced horsemanship skills.

Ability to use analytical techniques for problem solving, coordination, and decision making.

Driven, organized, action-oriented, analytical, and ability to multi-task.

High attention to detail.

Punctual.

Individual must be team-oriented.

Professional communication, persuasion, and customer service skills.

Serve all customers both internally and externally with a positive, professional, respectful, and courteous attitude with honesty and integrity.



This position requires:

Individual must provide, shoe and maintain a minimum of three (3) head of well broke horses and pass Adams pre-employment horse evaluation.

Individual must be able to work in adverse weather conditions.

Individual must be able to work holidays, extended hours and weekends as scheduled or company needs dictates.

Exerting 50 to 100 pounds of force occasionally; 25-50 lbs. of force frequently; 10 to 20 lbs. of force constantly. Standing, sitting, pushing/pulling, bending, twisting, and reaching/handling/grasping frequently; walking, carrying, and lifting/lowering occasionally; kneeling/crouching, climbing, crawling, and stairs rarely.

Compensation Details:

Starting wage: $20.00 to $23.00 per hour.

$2,000 Hiring Bonus

$550 per month horse pay for ongoing expenses + free grain and hay + $1,500 horse reimbursement every other year.
