NCTA inducts 17 to Phi Theta Kappa

CURTIS, Neb. - Seventeen students were installed Wednesday as new members into the Alpha Iota Tau Chapter of Phi Theta Kappa honor society in Curtis.
Students of the Nebraska College of Technical Agriculture gathered with parents, friends and current PTK members at the Education Center auditorium.
Semester finals were complete and commencement events opened with the annual induction ceremony before commencement at 1:30 p.m. on Thursday. The academic honorary recognizes the academic achievements of two-year college students.
“Phi Theta Kappa is the largest honor society in American higher education with more than 2.5 million members and 1,275 chapters,” Eric Reed, faculty advisor, told inductees. Reed is chairman of the NCTA General Education Division.
He cited well-known individuals who are graduates of two-year colleges, members of Phi Theta Kappa, and are successful in careers or higher education, including Dr. Ron Rosati, dean at NCTA.
The 2017 inductees to Alpha Iota Tau chapter are:

The students were inducted by the 2016-2017 officer team of President Christina Tilford, North Platte; Vice President Brianna Young, Gordon; Secretary/Treasurer, Rebecca Wentz, Clayton, Kansas, and Student Senate Representatives Ally Lendermon, Salem, and Katie Wilson, Omaha.
Many students who are not graduates in the Class of 2017 have left campus for their home farms and ranches, jobs, and activities including a college rodeo this weekend in Dickinson, North Dakota, said Professor Reed.
He announced the leadership group for the next year, which will be President Nate Letcher, Hay Springs; Vice President Riley Abbott, Hay Springs; Secretary/Treasurer Erica Mowery, Middleburg, Pennsylvania; and Student Senate Representatives Kaitlyn Thesenvitz, Wood River, and Emily Bauer, Lincoln.
