Position Title:  Pen Checking Supervisor

Job Description/Duties:

Adams Land and Cattle has an exciting leadership opportunity at the South Lot in Broken Bow, NE. This individual would be responsible for coordinating and delegating tasks within the Pen Checking teams.

This person is responsible for:

  • Supervising, coordinating, and delegating the Pen Checking personnel and operations including: promoting teamwork, assisting with employee growth and development, maintaining efficiency of personnel to maximize production goals, and assisting in all operations.

  • Ensuring the daily operations in Pen Checking are conducted accurately and consistently in accordance to SOP and quality standards.

  • Overseeing the identification and safe handling of sick cattle, in addition to cattle flow within the feedyard.

  • Monitoring and maintaining animal health reports and providing feedback from the reports to the personnel in Pen Checking.

  • Developing and strengthening team members through coaching and personal development opportunities.

  • Maintaining and providing cleanliness of the horse facilities.

    *Compensation includes $425 per month in Horse Pay

Qualifications or skills Required: 

Ideal candidate would possess the following qualifications:

  • Two (2) years of leadership experience.
  • Previous feedlot experience is required.
  • Advanced horsemanship skills.
  • Advanced knowledge of sick or injured cattle.
  • Cattle handling knowledge and experience (Beef Quality Assurance).
  • Commitment to safety and quality culture.
  • Exceptional ability to use analytical techniques for problem solving, coordination, and decision making.
  • Driven, organized, action-oriented, analytical, and ability to multi-task.
  • High attention to detail.
  • Individual must be team-oriented.

This position requires:

  • Individual must provide three (3) head of horses.
  • Individual must be able to work in adverse weather conditions.
  • Exerting 50-100 pounds of force occasionally. Sitting, lifting/lowering, pushing/pulling, and reaching/handling/grasping frequently; standing, walking, carrying, bending, twisting, climbing, and crawling occasionally; stairs and kneeling/crouching rarely.
