Wanted - Ranch Herdsman to Manager to Lessor
We need a well-qualified, experienced family that would like to become more than employees. The manager must have the experience, ability and desire to progress and become a key part of a purebred Angus operation.
After a period of demonstrating those skills, this opportunity includes the possible option to lease all land /cattle/ equipment. Our long term manager has retired. The absentee owner grew up on the ranch and plans to continue to live off site in another state. Some of the skills needed include but are not limited to: cow/ calf management, artificial insemination, mechanical abilities, welding, haying, fencing, some minimal farming, well maintenance, coral and outbuilding improvements.
This nearly 4500 acre ranch has a carrying capacity of approximately 425 head. We have river water, springs, windmills and solar powered water.
We have a mix of Sandhills grass and hard grass. Three new pivots with excellent water provide a predictable winter feed source. We have a high quality purebred Angus closed herd with some of the herd being registered and most of the herd eligible to be registered. Bloodlines include some of the best Angus AI sires. This is a great location that is only 1.75 miles off of S.D. state highway 18 (junction at Vetal, S.D.) on a good gravel road. We are at the north edge of the sand hills in South Dakota, directly north of Cody, Nebr. The ranch is not for sale, but possibly for lease after meeting the above criteria.
