Independent crop consultant looking for a motivated individual to help scout fields this summer and do soil sampling in the fall.
The type of person I am looking for needs to be a motivated, hard-working, honest person. Experience is a plus but not a requirement. I can teach an individual who is willing to learn.
I will need this individual for 2 days a week this summer. I can provide additional work for the other days of the week, if the individual would like.
What is to be expected:
- Starting the workday around 6-6:30 am and going until about 4-5:00 pm depending on the time of year. (It is usually shorter days later in the season).
-Riding a four-wheeler through fields, being able to identify weeds, insects, and diseases related to the crop.
-Early season scouting consists of riding a four-wheeler through fields, scouting for crop emergence, weeds, and doing population counts.
-Mid-season scouting consists of driving a four-wheeler to different parts of the outer field, walking into the field to look for any diseases, insects, and probe for moisture.
-Later season scouting consists of soil moisture probing and disease and insect identification.
-You will need to be able to use a computer and be able to type, as I do all my field reports on a computer program.
Other items expected of the individual:
-A rain suit.
-Bringing a lunch each day.
-Making it to work on time and having a good attitude while at work.
Pay will be competitive and will depend on knowledge and experience.
