We have a diversified farm and ranch in central, Nebraska. Main duties will be working with goats. Early duties will include tagging and keeping track of kidding on cattlemax. Later duties will include working with electric fence in a rotational grazing system. The goal is to control weeds and noxious plants on a large scale in a pasture setting. The goal of this project is to learn how to decrease chemical use in the pasture and increase available grass for the cows. This is not a hobby herd of 10 goats. We run close to 200 nannies and our longterm goal is a viable commercial herd.
Qualifications are not that many. The main qualification is someone who loves to work outdoors and an interest in agriculture. This job can be as in depth as the applicant would like. Anywhere from a desire to learn about something new or someone that just loves working with goats. The applicant will need to be able to walk up and down hills. Must also be able to lift a 50 lb feed bag on rare occasions. The work is physical at times, but not extreme.
Pay will depend on experience. Separate housing is available if needed.
