FARM LOAN OFFICER TRAINEE:

The Farm Loan Officer Trainee (which will be listed as Loan Assistant/Specialist in the job announcement) is hired as a full-time employee while completing a two-year training program to become a Farm Loan Officer. The position works in a developmental capacity, receiving on-the-job and classroom training until graduating to the position of Farm Loan Officer. Farm Loan Officers assist in making, servicing and supervising loans and providing technical guidance and credit counseling to loan applicants and borrowers. To enter the program in the lowest pay grade, this person must have a bachelor’s degree in fields such as finance, business administration, economics or banking (or related fields) OR have three years of progressively responsible general experience analyzing facts and figures or be able to show knowledge of the principles of financial analysis. An individual can be hired on at higher pay grade levels if he or she has achieved a bachelor’s degree or above and/or has specialized experience in the private sector dealing with financial analysis, agriculture loan-making, banking, et cetera.

Good candidates for these positions often have some level of college, but individuals with strong business backgrounds, especially in agricultural business, also may be strong candidates, regardless of education level.

Depending on education and experience levels, the position annual salary ranges from $36,118 to $71,146.
