We are looking to add a vet tech intern to our team during the 2024 breeding/foaling season. Horse experience/background is a must, but we are happy to train the right person/personality. The vet tech will assist our busy reproduction team with the following tasks:
Stallion collection and semen preparation
Mare Management: Artificial insemination, embryo transfer, follicle aspiration for Equine IVF and ICSI (Spring Hill Farms collaborates with Louisiana State University on IVF and ICSI projects and other exciting research opportunities).

A highly motivated individual who works well on a team is needed. Someone who takes pride in their work and gives great attention to detail.

We do not use our interns for stall cleaning and animal husbandry needs. We have a staff for stall cleaning and feeding. Occasionally our interns will help carry out treatment plans for illnesses or injuries, but most of the duties are foaling, assisting with mare management and stallion management. (They won't be asked to handle the stallions.) If they would like to handle a stallion, we have a very gentle, very easy to collect gypsy vanner stallion they could handle.

This is truly a one-of-a-kind opportunity for someone interested in equine management and reproduction.

We provide housing and we also pay a stipend to cover food and other expenses.
