- My name is Pat Long, Owner of Long Agronomics, Inc. I wanted to let you know of an internship position I have available this summer. I think it's a great opportunity to gain real world, In field experience and it looks great on your resume no matter what branch of agriculture you're planning on going into. I have two full-time agronomists working with me, we usually hire two to three interns per summer. Starting wage is $4500.00 per month with an end of season bonus. I can provide free housing if needed. Travel will be minimal. We work in one of the most intensely managed areas in Nebraska that produces some of the highest yields in the state. We use the latest Precision Ag software.
As an intern, you will benefit from hands on experience with some of the latest technology available in crop production and precision agriculture. You and your supervising agronomist will work together one on one and scout fields as a team. You would assist your supervisor in collecting data from contracted fields so that we can help our clients make economically and environmentally sound decisions. Duties include but are not limited to: Planter performance and population counts, herbicide efficacy evaluation, weed, plant, disease and insect identification, insect damage and disease severity scouting, irrigation scheduling, tissue sampling and general crop observations. You will see every aspect of corn, soybean and wheat production in irrigated and dry land environments. All of the in-field data is entered into our scouting software on iPads. Weekly crop reports are generated and emailed or printed for each individual field. We use 4x4 ATV’s to scout fields.

My employees and I have a great relationship with all representatives in the seed, chemical and fertilizer industries. Qualifications or Skills Required
A farming or ranching background is a plus but not required. Current drivers license. Ability to drive an ATV safely. Attention to detail. Good attitude and work ethic.
Salary and Benefits
$4500.00 Monthly.
End of summer Bonus.
