Building upon NCTA’s history
In reflecting upon this past year at the Nebraska College of Technical Agriculture, one of the events I enjoy noting is the 50th year for the campus to serve Nebraskans and others as a post-secondary educational institution.
This fall semester marked the silver anniversary for the University of Nebraska School of Technical Agriculture (1965-1988) and NCTA (1988-present).
Friends, alumni and former administrators helped us observe the occasion on Nov. 13 with a program and reception. We had a wonderful time in honoring the many partnerships which make the college a success.
One commemorative item from the 50th is a small history booklet distributed that day. We still have some available for our alumni and partners and will continue to share these during 2016.

At ncta.unl.edu viewers can explore NCTA’s academic programs, news updates, student teams and organizations, and calendar of events. This mechanism is one of the many modes we use to communicate with the public about NCTA. Potential students can review many items such as scholarships and financial aid, how to apply for college, attending an open house which we call “Discovery Day”, or even outreach and news for international students and programs.

This week, listeners and viewers are learning about two new certificate programs NCTA has announced in agricultural welding and agriculture chemical application.
We continue to build upon the rich history of the institution, which, by the way, first opened its doors in 1913 as the Nebraska School of Agriculture – a regional and residential high school.
From the historical archives and scrapbooks displayed in the NCTA Alumni Room at Ag Hall, to the transmission of an electronic, high-tech highway, we are relaying education and information around the world.
