Giving thanks for our blessings

This is a very special week at NCTA as we have so much to be grateful for this Thanksgiving.

With gratitude, I recognize our Curtis community, this region, and the many agricultural partners assisting the Nebraska College of Technical Agriculture. Many community organizations, churches, families and individuals enrich our campus and our students.

Two weeks ago, the campus observed 50 years as a post-secondary institution educating students about technical agriculture. We look forward to the next 50 years!

I, personally, am grateful to the parents and families who have entrusted education of their loved ones to this institution.

We are a small campus here in Curtis, and one that is more like a large family of diverse individuals. Each student and employee matters to the wellbeing of the whole.

Our common thread is belief and respect for our endeavors in agriculture. The young adults who enter our classrooms and laboratories, or participate on competitive teams and in leadership experiences, are inspiring individuals, enthusiastic about their futures.

I am grateful these students choose to immerse themselves in a collegiate career as an NCTA Aggie. Our faculty and staff members work diligently each day to provide the best learning environment possible for our students.

When challenges exist for an individual or a group of students, we unite to support each other. I am grateful for the ability in our country and state for students to become educated in academic areas of their choice, and for freedom of speech to engage in classes, forums and written word.

On behalf of instructors and faculty, I speak for all of us who have the opportunity to educate and engage with these young adults. I’ve always believed an agricultural campus holds a special place as we are caretakers of animals, crops, resources and stewardship of each other.

We are fortunate to be a part of the University of Nebraska, a land grant institution founded in the belief of agricultural education, research and cooperative outreach.

Together, with students, industries, educators, farm and ranch mentors, and the University of Nebraska, NCTA is educating our next generation. From our NCTA family to yours, we express gratitude for our agricultural harvest and educational bounty.
