Job Description
- Looking for a farm hand for a row crop and cow/calf operation. The ideal candidate must be detail-orientated, have a strong work ethic, a good attitude and have the ability to handle cattle with respect and minimal stress. Must be comfortable running various forms of farm equipment and machinery.
Farming is hard work and can be very labor intensive during peak seasons. Must have a willingness to want to work. Work hours vary during the year, but are generally dawn to dusk. Overtime during peak times (ie. harvest).
Qualifications or Skills Required
Field Work & Irrigation
Planting/Harvesting
Working and sorting cattle
Rotating cattle on pasture and corn stalk grazing when needed
Feeding and watering cows
Annual Bull Sale (Feb)
Calving (Jan-April)
Breeding (April/May)
Spraying weeds around the yard, fence lines, feed lot
Perform maintenance and repairs on equipment
Fence repairs
A love of working outdoors in various weather conditions is vital. A willingness to learn and adapt to new tasks as day to day work can vary and change.
