Job Description
Pitts Veterinary Hospital, an AAHA-accredited practice, is seeking a Licensed Veterinary Technician to join our team of 3 LVTs and 4 doctors. Full-time openings are rare, so this is an excellent opportunity to join a busy, high-quality hospital.
Responsibilities:
· Provide compassionate, high-quality nursing care to patients, including:
o Physical exams, dental procedures, surgeries, immunizations, treatments, and euthanasia
o Client education and guidance on preventative care and health maintenance
· Assist in medical procedures and laboratory diagnostics, including:
o CBCs, urinalysis, cultures, fecals, 4dx heartworm, and other SNAP tests
o In-house labs using Catalyst, Sedivue, and Vetscan; IDEXX reference lab
· Operate diagnostic and treatment equipment:
o Digital X-ray, digital dental X-ray, Phillips ultrasound, anesthesia machines, dental and surgical laser equipment, incubator, EKG
· Maintain inventory of pharmaceuticals, medical supplies, and equipment
· Support Fear Free practices and ensure patients have a calm, low-stress experience
· Collaborate with doctors, fellow technicians, front desk, and kennel staff as needed
· Rotate weekend, evening, and holiday coverage for in-hospital patients
· Participate in monthly staff meetings
Schedule:
· 7:00 AM – 3:00 PM or 12:00 PM – 8:00 PM, Monday – Friday
· Some Saturdays, 8:00 AM – 4:00 PM (clinic open 9:00 AM – 3:00 PM)
· Surgery performed Monday – Friday, 7:00 AM – 3:00 PM; emergency surgeries as needed

Qualifications or Skills Required
· Licensed Veterinary Technician in Nebraska
· Excellent communication skills with clients and colleagues
· Strong knowledge of pharmaceutical drugs, common diseases, and preventative care
· Ability to provide top-notch nursing care and assist in all areas of the hospital
· Flexibility to work day, evening, and occasional weekend shifts
· Interest or experience in Fear Free patient care
Salary and Benefits
$42,500-$47,500
