Ag Business Forum is Feb. 15 at NCTA

Curtis, Neb. – Three agribusinesses from Southwest Nebraska will discuss “Transitioning to the Future” at the 2017 Ag Business Economic Symposium on February 15 at the Nebraska College of Technical Agriculture in Curtis.

Agricultural producers, businesses, families and college students are encouraged to attend, said Mary Rittenhouse, chair of the NCTA Ag Business Management Systems division.

“Today's ag producers face challenging decisions. Estate planning and decisions for the future are among these. When do you start? What do you need to consider? How will current policies and laws affect what you want to do? The planning process begins with you asking questions about your situations,” Rittenhouse said.

Students in the NCTA Ag Business Club will be assisting with the forum which begins at 9:30 a.m. in the NCTA Nebraska Agriculture Industry Education Center, at Siminoe Ave. and University Blvd.

Topics include legal, real estate, insurance, and tax considerations of estate planning. Participants will have opportunity to attend full sessions in the Ed Center Auditorium or break-out sessions in Ed Center classrooms.

Speakers will include Curtis Attorney Steve Herman, Phil Hinrichs and Andrew Fischer of Farm Bureau Financial Services, and Steve Knuth of AgWest Commodities.

The luncheon will feature Cortney Cowley, economist with Omaha Branch of the Federal Reserve Bank of Kansas City, who will present the agricultural outlook for Nebraska and surrounding region.
