Eight students were inducted as members into the Alpha Iota Tau Chapter of Phi Theta Kappa honor society.
Initiates gathered May 4 with current PTK members for the annual candle-lighting installation ceremony at the Nebraska College of Technical Agriculture in Curtis.
PTK academic honorary recognizes achievements of students attending a two-year college. It provides opportunities for growth and development through honors, leadership, and service.

The Class of 2022 Aggies made up for the lost celebrations of high school at their college commencement on May 5 at the Nebraska College of Technical Agriculture in Curtis.
“This is a very special time for our graduates. The Class of 2022 is a class of survivors,” said Larry Gossen, NCTA dean. “Two short years ago, the world as we knew it shut down and many of these students didn’t get to experience a normal graduation.”
An overflow crowd of an estimated 550 guests attended commencement at the Curtis Memorial Community Center.

It’s beginning to look a lot like …. springtime on campus. A finale of second semester. Time for our Aggie graduates to commence onto their next journeys.
What an incredibly busy and rewarding past two weeks we have experienced at NCTA. Whew.
With some much-needed rains and mowed lawns, the greener view invites me to linger on the front porch and enjoy some quiet evenings.
Thank you, Mother Nature, for bringing the nourishment of moisture.

The NCTA Class of 2022 has much to celebrate. So does the Class of 2023 as their freshmen year at NCTA also draws to a close this week.
I am proud to be affiliated with these two groups of students. I joined the Nebraska College of Technical Agriculture in the summer of 2020 as the new dean on campus, just as our current graduates were preparing to begin their college careers in Curtis.
Commencement for the Class of 2022 is Thursday, May 5th. Here are some highlights from this year’s class of 80 candidates.

Graduates in agriculture all want what’s best for Nebraska, and that means the new class motto may be “Let It Rain” with the class song, “Singing in the Rain!”
The Nebraska College of Technical Agriculture will have its graduation activities on Thursday at the Curtis Memorial Community Center, 201 Garlick Avenue.
NCTA Dean Larry Gossen said the change in venue from the campus football field is due to inclement weather forecasts for May 5th. Commencement is at 1:30 p.m., with the public reception immediately after.

Jurgens Scholars in Class of ‘22 Monday, May 2, 2022

Vanessa Herrera of Lexington and Macy Zentner of Cedar Rapids appreciate the couple who sponsor a memorial scholarship each year at the Nebraska College of Technical Agriculture.
The two Aggies graduate with the NCTA Class of 2022 Thursday, and for two years were beneficiaries of the Glenn Jurgens Memorial Scholarship sponsored by George and Carole Garlick of Richland, Washington.

Ranch horse team places fifth at Amarillo Monday, May 2, 2022

The Aggie Ranch Horse Team from NCTA in late April brought home a fifth place among college teams at national championships in Texas.
Eight Aggie students from the Nebraska College of Technical Agriculture competed at the Hughes Ranch Trailers Collegiate Ranch and Stock Horse National Championships in Amarillo.
They placed fifth among the Division I teams, said Animal Science Professor and Coach Jo Hergenreder.
Nationals are the pinnacle for the Ranch Horse Team athletes.

Aggies of 2022 to graduate Thursday Friday, April 29, 2022

The Aggie Class of 2022 will assemble 76 graduates Thursday at the Nebraska College of Technical Agriculture.
Associate degrees and 1-year certificates will be conferred by University of Nebraska Vice President Mike Boehm.
He will be joined by University of Nebraska Regent Bob Phares and NCTA Dean Larry Gossen.

This week is bittersweet. Our NCTA Class of 2022 will be graduating next Thursday, May 5
Students who faced adversity with a global pandemic during their spring semester as high school seniors. The Class of 2020 didn’t get to enjoy public celebrations and a high school commencement.
Young people, 17 or 18 years old, faced an unknown. That August, they came to Curtis to attend college at NCTA. They were brave, but not necessarily without apprehension.

The 2022 Commencement at the Nebraska College of Technical Agriculture in Curtis is Thursday, May 5.
The agricultural college, the sole two-year campus of the University of Nebraska, will confer associate degrees and certificates to 76 Aggie students in the ceremony, said Larry Gossen, NCTA dean.
