One best way to gain financial traction for college is do the work required for scholarships, campus work-study, and federal aid.
This can be a topic that many young people avoid. That is leaving money on the table, frankly.
It does take time, dedication, some patience, and plenty of research. But, in the end, scholarship applications and seeking letters of recommendation from respected educators, employers and leaders will pay off.

Student athlete studies Agricultural Education Tuesday, April 19, 2022

Ellie Stohlmann, a rodeo athlete at the Nebraska College of Technical Agriculture in Curtis, has received a scholarship in memory of a fallen U.S. Marine who loved the sport of rodeo.
In March, the Hunter HD Hogan Foundation awarded the $1,000 scholarship to Stohlmann. She is a member of the NCTA Rodeo Team and competes in barrels and team roping.
The Ashland native is majoring in Agricultural Education at NCTA. In January 2023, she transfers her teaching program to the University of Nebraska-Lincoln.

Aggies prep for Spring rodeo at UNL Tuesday, April 19, 2022

Adverse weather forecasts for South Dakota postponed the April 22-23 Black Hills State University Rodeo for a week to April 29-30.
The Aggie Rodeo Team from the Nebraska College of Technical Agricultured will compete with four Aggie athletes, said Aggie Coach Jaden Clark.
Nathan Burnett of Shelton rides saddle broncs; Ellie Stohlmann of Ashland team ropes and races barrels, and Calli Bauer of Arcadia is in team roping and breakaway roping. Taylor Hendrix of Holyoke, Colorado will compete in barrel racing.

Aggies gain in TAPS contest Friday, April 15, 2022
The old line about a farmer out standing in his (or her) field is no joke for agronomy students at the Nebraska College of Technical Agriculture.
Aggie students of NCTA Agronomy Professor Brad Ramsdale participated in 2020 and 2021 in a University of Nebraska-Lincoln competition called Testing Ag Performance Solutions.

Ranch Horse Team wins at McCook; next up in Texas Friday, April 15, 2022

Hosts of the recent Punchy in Pink Spring Roundup in McCook rode away as collegiate champions of their annual ranch and stock horse contest.
The Nebraska College of Technical Agriculture Ranch Horse Team won among four colleges.
Jo Hergenreder, NCTA professor and coach, deemed the 2022 Spring Roundup show a huge success.
"This year was as smoothly run as any we have hosted thus far, all in all due to the students’ efforts and all of our supporters such as Slidin Daze Enterprises and the AQHA,” Hergenreder said of two stock horse member entities.

We added a large checkmark (and a few gold stars) to our NCTA “bucket list” in the past week for FFA programs.
The 94th annual Nebraska State FFA Convention in Lincoln was a grand event. After a two-year pandemic hiatus, it was quite reinvigorating to again assemble in the Star City.
Sixteen of us from the Nebraska College of Technical Agriculture attended, amid 6,000 FFA members, chapter advisors, family members and future teachers.

National awards to 2-year and 4-year ag colleges Friday, April 8, 2022

NORTH PLATTE, Neb. - National champions in recent collegiate agriculture contests ranging from soils and crops to livestock and horses, were from the states of Illinois, Minnesota, and Nebraska.
The Nebraska College of Technical Agriculture at Curtis hosted more than 500 students, plus coaches and instructors at the North American Colleges and Teachers of Agriculture (NACTA) Judging Contest, “Discover your Hidden Resources.”

Ranch horse show in McCook begins Friday Friday, April 8, 2022

Horse enthusiasts can get a healthy dose of equine action this weekend as riders test the versatility and value of working horseback at a ranch.
The Punchy in Pink Spring Roundup is Friday, Saturday, and Sunday at the Red Willow County Fairgrounds in McCook. Events include stock cow work, ranch riding, horse confirmation, and trail course.
The show for open class and college contestants is hosted by the Nebraska College of Technical Agriculture Ranch Horse Team.

NACTA students discovered their hidden resource in contests Thursday, April 7, 2022

Nebraskans introduced college students from around the United States to our unique agriculture and natural resources during a national conference last week in North Platte.
We were honored to host the NACTA Judging Contest 2022 “Discover Your Hidden Resource” in west central Nebraska.
In three days, more than 500 students plus coaches and guests represented 42 colleges in contests of ag business, mechanics, crops, livestock, dairy, knowledge bowl, precision ag, horticulture, soils, and equine management.

Nebraska’s classrooms are gaining on agricultural academics, thanks to programs such as FFA, 4-H and now a consortium in Northeast Nebraska.
As the sole post-secondary institution in Nebraska that is 100% agricultural, the Nebraska College of Technical Agriculture is a key resource for agricultural education.
This week and next, NCTA joins partners in significant events for high school students.
