NCTA wins crops contest Tuesday, March 10, 2020

CURTIS, Neb. – An all-Nebraska team of Aggie students is tops in their field.
The Nebraska College of Technical Agriculture in Curtis won the top crops judging team among their two-year college cohorts Saturday in a Crops Judging Contest hosted at NCTA.
A four-student team of Ethan Aschenbrenner and Tyler Aschenbrenner, brothers from Scottsbluff, Chase Callahan of Farnam, and Amy Lammers of Axtell are sophomores at NCTA.

Aggies take aim at sporting clays Tuesday, March 10, 2020

CURTIS, Neb. – The Aggie Shotgun Sports Team opened its 2020 season over the weekend with five members traveling to Lincoln.
Coach Alan Taylor said the students from the Nebraska College of Technical Agriculture in Curtis compete next on Saturday (March 14) at Fort Hays State University in Kansas.
Colby Mitchell of Burwell was high overall for the NCTA team with a total score of 349 out of 400 in sporting clays, skeet, trap and double trap events.

Second NCTA dean candidate visit is March 16 Monday, March 9, 2020

The second of three candidates being considered for the position of dean at the Nebraska College of Technical Agriculture in Curtis will present a public seminar on Monday.
The public is invited to attend the 3:45 p.m. seminar to be presented on March 16 by Dr. Clyde Cranwell of Hays, Kansas.
The seminar will be in the auditorium of the Nebraska Agriculture Industry Education Center, followed by a public reception at 5:30 p.m., said Tiffany Heng-Moss, who leads the 12-member NCTA Dean Search Committee.

Safari Club makes learning international Monday, March 9, 2020

CURTIS, Neb. – The Safari Club of the Nebraska College of Technical Agriculture traveled to Costa Rica during NCTA’s Winter Break in January.
Six students in the Veterinary Technology Division, home to the NCTA Safari Club, presented class reports before a campus audience in February.
Ten faculty, alumni and friends joined the six students for the adventure, explained Judy Bowmaster Cole, Veterinary Technology instructor and Safari Club sponsor.

Our Curtis and campus community is moving into another exciting chapter of 2020!
This month we will have opportunity to meet three finalist candidates for the position of dean at the Nebraska College of Technical Agriculture.
We look forward to welcoming these three educators to our unique campus.
Here, we have opportunity to provide a direct overview of the technical programs for our Aggie students in agriculture, agribusiness and veterinary technology.

CURTIS, Neb. – Larry A. Gossen, Ph.D., a candidate being considered as the new Dean of the Nebraska College of Technical Agriculture will visit Curtis on Wednesday, March 11 for a seminar and public reception.
Dr. Gossen currently is a State FFA Advisor with the Nebraska Department of Education, and is based in Lincoln. His career in agriculture education and FFA organizations spans over 40 years in Kansas, Missouri, Illinois and Nebraska.

CURTIS, Neb. – Happy FFA Week from our Aggie campus! And, a salute to Nebraska 4-H Month, too!
Programs educating youth for futures in agriculture are highest of priorities for the Nebraska College of Technical Agriculture in Curtis. National FFA Week is observed Feb. 22-29.
One of the strongest areas of leadership development and career exploration for Nebraska youngsters begins long before they arrive to campus and become NCTA Aggies.

CURTIS, Neb. – Beef cattle evaluation holds great appeal for 10 Aggie students from the Nebraska College of Technical Agriculture in Curtis.
“Our students engaged in a highly competitive contest at the Nebraska Cattlemen’s Classic Beef Cattle Judging Contest in Kearney recently,” said Doug Smith, livestock judging coach, and professor of animal science and agriculture education.

Aggies gear up for FFA Week Friday, February 21, 2020

CURTIS, Neb. – A faculty appreciation breakfast Monday morning kicks off National FFA Week at the Nebraska College of Technical Agriculture in Curtis.
The NCTA 4-H and FFA Club is sponsoring Ag Olympics on Wednesday, and all week will have a Trivia Contest through NCTA’s social media.
“Our chapter has been working to stay more involved this year on campus and in the community,” said Emily Kammerer of Sutherland, president of the NCTA’s combined collegiate club.
