Job Description
We are looking for an intern to work on a commercial cattle ranch for summer 2025. The work experience gained would consist of working with the cow herd, sorting and moving cattle to summer pastures, synchronizing and A. I. ing our replacement heifers, cutting and raking hay, stacking bales, checking water for cattle, fencing and monitoring pastures for a rotational grazing program. Some knowledge of cattle and horses, along with operation of machinery would be helpful.
Qualifications or Skills Required
The ranch is located in northwest Nebraska. We run about 750 cow calf pairs, 350 yearling replacement heifers and have 1500 acres of dry land alfalfa and hay to harvest. We are 12 miles from a town with a population of 5,000, which has most amenities. We are about an hours drive from the Black hills of South Dakota, which has a lot of interesting sites to visit. Rapid City, South Dakota, with a population of 75,000 is about 2 hours away.
Salary and Benefits
Wages would depend on experience. Housing is provided.
