Friday
- Spend the morning learning the basics of stock handling and impacts on animal health
- Gain hands-on practice with live cattle and horses on foot in the afternoon
We’ll kick things off Friday morning in the classroom, covering the basics of low-stress handling and why it matters for cattle health and wellbeing. In the afternoon, we’ll step outside to the arena for practice with live cattle, as well as groundwork and safety tips for handling horses. You’ll also get an overview of the gear used for working horses and how to use it safely.
Saturday
Audit live demonstrations of horsemanship and stockmanship as Dr. Tom and Ted work with the NCTA Ranch Horse Team
Saturday is all about putting it together on horseback. The ranch horse team will ride in the arena, working cattle and demonstrating horsemanship in action. While the team is in the saddle, everyone is encouraged to watch closely, ask questions, and join the conversation.
Sunday
- Join us in the morning for Cowboy Church
- Spend the afternoon reviewing the weekend with opportunities for more hands-on practice
Sunday starts with cowboy church, then we’ll gather once more for practice and a final group review. Together, we’ll watch recordings from the weekend to highlight what worked, what we learned, and how to keep improving.
This weekend is open to all! Whether you’re an experienced cattle handler, a student of stockmanship, or just curious to learn.Come ready to learn, watch, and be part of a community that values good cattle handling, solid horsemanship, and the connection between people and livestock.

Speaker Bios
Dr. Tom Noffsinger is a veterinarian and teacher of stockmanship from Benkelman, Nebraska. He has spent his career helping ranchers and feedlots improve cattle health and safety through low-stress livestock handling. Dr. Noffsinger is known for his hands-on teaching style, his focus on animal well-being, and his ability to connect with both people and cattle.
Ted Howard is a Feedlot Horsemanship instructor that works with Production Animal Consultants (PAC). PAC provides on-site evaluation and training in animal handling, using the pressure-and-release philosophy with both horses and cattle.
