The Barta Brothers Ranch is situated in the northeastern Sandhills region of Nebraska, approximately 20 miles south of Ainsworth, Long Pine, and Bassett, NE.
Job Description
- As a Ranch Hand (On-Call), you will:
• Control invasive plant species through application of herbicides and/or mechanical removal methods.
• Assist with fence construction and repair.
• Operate and assist with maintaining university fleet vehicles and equipment.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
Days and hours will vary. On-Call positions are hired to work during peak activity periods and may work up to 693 work hours per fiscal year. On-call employees are not eligible for any leave with pay or any other university benefits. Criminal history background check and driving record review will be conducted.

Qualifications or Skills Required
Minimum Required Qualifications
High school diploma or GED plus one year of commercial or family agricultural experience. Equivalent experience/education considered.
Must have valid driver’s license and meet University driver eligibility requirements.
Preferred Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in range sciences, wildlife sciences, or other natural resources related topic.
Prior experience operating vehicles off-road.
