Job Description

  • Equine Veterinary Technician Internship Opportunity
Sandhills Equine is offering a hands-on internship opportunity for students enrolled in a veterinary technology program who are interested in equine medicine. This internship is designed for students with any level of equine clinical experience—we will teach you the skills you need and support your learning throughout the program.

    What You’ll Learn & Do
Interns will gain extensive hands-on experience in a predominantly in-clinic equine practice, with some ambulatory work. Opportunities include, but are not limited to:
    • Collecting and processing diagnostic samples
    • Placing IV catheters
    • Passing nasogastric tubes
    • Assisting with breeding and reproductive exams
    • Participating in equine dentistry procedures
    • Assisting with lameness evaluations
    • Helping with clinic setup and teardown for various procedures

Time will be intentionally set aside for interns to practice procedures they are particularly interested in and to build confidence in their technical skills.

    Schedule & Expectations
    • Availability: Ideally March through June
    • Hours: Variable; spring can be unpredictable and may include longer days. Longer hours often mean increased hands-on learning opportunities.
