We celebrated the “new” and “achievers” at the Nebraska College of Technical Agriculture this past weekend.
In a year of tumult, uncertainties and great challenges faced by many of us on college campuses, we do have cause for celebration. On Saturday, graduates with the NCTA Classes of December, 2019, and May and August, 2020, gathered with families and our campus staff and faculty for a small open house at the historic student activities center.

NORTH PLATTE, Neb. – When it comes to breaking clay targets at a trap club, Colby Mitchell of Burwell has his eyes on the prize.
This time it was a bronze medal for placing third in the men’s division of the Prairie Circuit Collegiate Conference meet.
In a weekend contest that drew 110 competitors from nine colleges to the Lincoln County Wildlife Gun Club, Mitchell led six athletes from the Nebraska College of Technical Agriculture at Curtis with a high overall of 458 points.

The first Discovery Day of autumn is Tuesday (Oct. 6) at the Nebraska College of Technical Agriculture.
“We launch ‘NCTA: Where your passion becomes a career’ Discovery Days so prospective high school students or college transfers can come to our campus and see what we have to offer them in agriculture or veterinary technology,” said Gaylene Stinman, enrollment associate.

NCTA application fee waived Oct. 1-18 Monday, September 28, 2020

Nebraska students who apply for admissions to University of Nebraska campuses including NCTA at Curtis from Oct. 1 through Oct. 18 can have the application fee waived, an incentive to expand interest by college-bound students.
The $45 fee will be waived for any Nebraskan completing the online, shared application to the Nebraska College of Technical Agriculture, University of Nebraska-Lincoln, University of Nebraska at Kearney, or University of Nebraska at Omaha.

Happiness really is small town living. As newcomers to the Nebraska College of Technical Agriculture, Fay and I were able to experience the theme of this year’s Fall Festival in the Curtis City Park. As we took in many of the weekend festivities, we agreed that we are truly blessed to be living in Curtis where we can experience small town living at its best.

NORTH PLATTE – Four veteran cowboys from the Nebraska College of Technical Agriculture in Curtis placed in rodeo action over the weekend at North Platte in the season openers hosted by Mid-Plains Community College.
NCTA was represented by six athletes in the first of three contests for the 2020 fall season in the Great Plains Region of the National Intercollegiate Rodeo Association (NIRA).

LINCOLN – A returning athlete joined by four new teammates with the Aggie Shotgun Sports Team from the Nebraska College of Technical Agriculture competed over the weekend in a 10-college meet hosted by Midland University at the Lincoln Trap and Skeet Club.
Aggie coach Alan Taylor said 130 students entered the contest of five events: sporting clays, skeet, super skeet, double skeet, and trap shooting.
NCTA sophomore Colby Mitchell of Burwell led the Aggies with high overall team score of 363 points.

NCTA greets larger freshmen class Tuesday, September 8, 2020

The freshmen class of students arriving this fall at the Nebraska College of Technical Agriculture in Curtis increased 20% from a year ago with 102 new, fulltime freshmen.
They join a doubling of fulltime transfer students who now number 20, along with 96 returning second- and third-year Aggies for a total of 218 fulltime students seeking an associate degree.

Originally, Sophie Nutter of Ragan, Nebraska was going to study elementary education. She enrolled in two different colleges, trying to find the “right fit.”
Then, in her third year as an education major, she discovered another career avenue. One that met her passion.
A classmate from Wilcox-Hildreth High School invited Nutter to explore programs at the Nebraska College of Technical Agriculture in Curtis.
