This week I ventured off campus to visit some of our agricultural partners and stakeholders of NCTA, including an alumna newer to the ranks of classroom teaching.
Similar to my encounters in the last four weeks, these introductory conversations have been equally energizing and informative to the “new” dean at the Nebraska College of Technical Agriculture.

Mention Sandy Wills to folks in Curtis and they’ll likely have been the beneficiary of one of her baked or handmade creations.
Last week, the Curtis native received the top staff recognition at the Nebraska College of Technical Agriculture with the NCTA “Excellence in Service Award.”
“It was really a surprise when Mary Rittenhouse called my name,” said the 25-year employee of the tech school. “I wasn’t expecting this!”

CURTIS, Neb. – Six riding and stock horse clinics will be offered for equine enthusiasts on July 10, July 24 and August 7 at the Nebraska College of Technical Agriculture in Curtis.
“Riders can work on their basics, get some time riding at the indoor arena here at the Livestock Teaching Center on campus, and learn from our Ranch Horse Team,” said Joanna Hergenreder, NCTA Ranch Horse Team coach and associate professor of animal science.

CURTIS, Neb. _ The University of Nebraska is providing $50,000 for its on-campus classes in Curtis, Nebraska this fall.
The pledge through “Nebraska Promise” enables tuition-free college classes to fulltime students who are new, transfers or returning Aggies to the Nebraska College of Technical Agriculture in Curtis.
Nebraska residents with family income of less than $60,000 per year are eligible.

Dean’s Message from Larry Gossen, Ph.D.
Greetings from the Dean’s office. It is indeed my privilege to write this first column as the new dean of the Nebraska College of Technical Agriculture.
My first week has been a whirlwind, but I am finally getting settled in and finding my way around southwest Nebraska. My wife Fay and I have enjoyed the hospitality of the local establishments and enjoy the many conversations we have had about anything from our cat to our favorite foods.

A fast-paced month after her college commencement as a veterinary technician, Nebraska native Chrissy Starkey is settled into a new home and a new job.
The graduate of the Nebraska College of Technical Agriculture at Curtis now resides near Linwood, Kansas, along with her horse, two cats and three dogs.
Starkey is employed at Mission Veterinary Emergency and Specialty Hospital, where in March and April she became the first student intern from NCTA.

Dean’s Message from former Interim Dean Kelly Bruns, Ph.D.
CURTIS, Neb. – This week we welcome Dr. Larry Gossen as the new dean at the Nebraska College of Technical Agriculture in Curtis.
Dean Gossen and his wife, Fay, moved to the NCTA campus over the weekend. They have relocated from Springfield, Missouri. Dr. Gossen has dedicated 24 years to education in Kansas as an FFA advisor, agricultural education teacher, and mentor to many youth. He also worked with the National FFA Organization in Indianapolis.
