Curtis, Neb. – The Nebraska College of Technical Agriculture at Curtis has been named as a Top 150 two-year institution by the Aspen Institute College Excellence Program.
“NCTA is proud to be selected for this prestigious honor which recognizes the college’s statewide mission with the University of Nebraska system for an affordable, quality education,” said Ron Rosati, NCTA dean. “We educate skilled, career-ready graduates in agriculture.”

NCTA Livestock Judging Team bring home awards Monday, February 1, 2016
Our competition teams at the Nebraska College of Technical Agriculture are starting their winter and spring travel season. This means they put in many hours of hard work on campus, in addition to off-campus team workouts and miles on the road.
The livestock judging team coached by Dr. Doug Smith just returned from a weekend contest at Sioux Falls, S.D., where the team place sixth overall. These livestock evaluators are a great group of students. I am very proud of their commitment and perseverance.

NCTA names Dean’s Awards Tuesday, January 26, 2016
Curtis, Neb. – The Nebraska College of Technical Agriculture at Curtis announced academic honors for the fall semester of 2015.
Eleven students were named to the Dean’s List with a 4.00 grade point average and 51 students were named to the Dean’s Honor Roll with 3.50-3.99 GPA, said Ron Rosati, NCTA dean.
Students must be fulltime enrollees, with at least 12 credit hours for the semester to be eligible for this designation.

Irrigation management strategies at NCTA workshop Monday, January 25, 2016
Curtis, Neb. – Successful irrigation strategies by Nebraska crop growers will be on tap January 28 in Curtis for the “Low to High Tech Water Solutions” workshop hosted at the Nebraska College of Technical Agriculture.
“The conference for irrigators focuses on choosing tools that work for their specific operations,” said Brad Ramsdale, PhD, NCTA agronomy professor. “In addition to growers discussing what works best in their cropping systems, 10 speakers will outline management considerations for success.”

NCTA to host Water Solutions workshop on Jan. 28 Thursday, December 10, 2015
Curtis, Neb. – “Low to High Tech Water Solutions” will the theme for the 2016 irrigation management forum to be hosted at the University of Nebraska College of Technical Agriculture in Curtis on Jan. 28.
“The workshop targets crop producers and irrigation management – choosing tools that work for their specific operations,” said Brad Ramsdale, PhD, agronomy and agricultural mechanics division chairman. “Our NCTA agronomy students will be joining irrigators and crop producers in receiving excellent management information.”

NCTA recognizes ag leaders at 50th celebration Tuesday, November 17, 2015
Curtis, Neb. – Graduates and agricultural leaders were recently honored by the University of Nebraska at the 50th anniversary celebration of the Nebraska College of Technical Agriculture in Curtis.
Five decades of technical agriculture education was applauded by Stan Matzke, keynote speaker at the NCTA program. Matzke, now of Lincoln, served as the first superintendent of the “tech school” from 1965-1968. He outlined the challenges in starting the new post-secondary institution on a bare-bones budget.

Ag college to salute alumni, honorees Friday, June 12, 2015
Curtis, Neb. – The University of Nebraska’s “Curtis ag college” will honor four ardent advocates of the 103- year-old school at an alumni association banquet June 27.
A reunion of the joint alumni association for the University of Nebraska School of Technical Agriculture (UNSTA) and the Nebraska College of Technical Agriculture (NCTA) will present awards at the annual meeting at the Chances R Restaurant in York, said NCTA Dean Ron Rosati.

Governor Ricketts to keynote York-NCTA ag kick-off Tuesday, August 25, 2015
York, Neb. – Nebraska Governor Pete Ricketts will be the keynote speaker on September 3 in York as a new partnership kicks off career readiness and agricultural workforce training of York High School sophomores, juniors and seniors.
New dual credit agricultural training programs are being offered this year by YHS staff, the Nebraska College of Technical Agriculture, Central Valley Ag Cooperative and Reinke Manufacturing, Inc.

NCTA Farmers Markets begin Saturday Tuesday, September 1, 2015
Curtis, Neb. – Late summer produce pumpkins will be on produce stands in the Curtis City Park starting Saturday (Sept. 5).
The first of six Saturday farmers markets will feature local produce and other items provided by local growers and the Nebraska College of Technical Agriculture horticulture club, said Tee Bush, NCTA instructor and club sponsor.
“The NCTA Farmers Market begins in Curtis again now that NCTA students are back on campus,” Bush said. “We coordinate the Farmers Market in conjunction with the NCTA Community Garden.”

NCTA hits record enrollment, up 33 percent Tuesday, September 1, 2015
Curtis, Neb. – Student enrollment at the Nebraska College of Technical Agriculture in Curtis is up 33 percent from a year ago, a record for NCTA enrollment with 512 students, NCTA Dean Ron Rosati announced Tuesday.
The 102-year-old school, the only two-year college degree program of the University of Nebraska system, issued its count after the first full week of classes began on August 24.
