CURTIS, NE — The Nebraska College of Technical Agriculture Shotgun Sports Team closed out a successful fall season marked by competitive performances, personal milestones, and strong community backing. Under the leadership of Coach Alan Taylor, the team continued to build momentum as it represented NCTA at shoots across the region.

Highlights of the season included the team’s fundraising traditions, hosting shoots here in Curtis. The Bring Home the Bacon Trap/Skeet Shoot held recently at the Curtis Gun Range drew area residents, alums, and supporters for an afternoon of clays, camaraderie, and bacon-themed prizes. Funds raised help cover travel expenses, equipment needs, and training resources that allow NCTA student-athletes to compete throughout Nebraska and the Midwest.

“Events like the Bacon Shoot make a huge difference for our program,” said Coach Alan Taylor. “Our community shows up for these students time and time again. That support directly fuels their ability to travel, learn, and compete at a high level.”

Strong Performances in Lincoln

This fall, the team traveled to Lincoln for a large competitive shoot featuring 176 athletes from programs across the state. NCTA posted excellent results, including two top finishers in the two-year college division.

Coach’s Season Reflection

Coach Taylor said this year’s squad demonstrated impressive dedication — balancing coursework, practice, fundraising events, and weekend travel.

“This group has put in the work since day one, and their growth shows in every scorecard,” Taylor said. “We saw major personal records, confident first-time competitors, and students who truly support one another. Combine that with the incredible backing from our Curtis and Frontier County communities, and it’s clear the future of NCTA Shotgun Sports is bright. I couldn’t be prouder of them.”

As the team moves into winter training and prepares for spring competitions, NCTA celebrates the hard work, sportsmanship, and skill of its student shooters — and the community members who help make their success possible.
