NCTA Dean’s Message

CURTIS, Neb. - Now that summer is officially upon us and July is around the corner, this week we bid farewell to the 2019 group of NCTA-UNL agricultural scholars.

The 50 students from Rwanda conclude their NCTA experience on Thursday. They will return to the UNL College of Agricultural Sciences and Natural Resources to complete a bachelor’s degree before eventually moving back home to Rwanda.

Hansens tap NCTA ag mechanics with gift Monday, June 17, 2019

CURTIS, Neb. - Alumnus Gary W. Hansen had a positive experience at the Nebraska College of Technical Agriculture in Curtis while attending there in the mid-1970s.

As a result, his family is making certain future generations of students have the same opportunities for success in agriculture.

Improvements underway at the college are made possible with a significant memorial gift from Gary Hansen’s family which they made to the University of Nebraska Foundation.

NCTA to host two New Student days Saturday, June 8, 2019

CURTIS, Neb. – New students who will be attending the Nebraska College of Technical Agriculture this fall can attend sessions on June 18 or July 16 to prepare for moving onto campus in late August.

“We are expecting 34 of our incoming students to participate in New Student Enrollment for this second session on Tuesday, June 18,” said Tina Smith, NCTA admissions coordinator.

A first NSE session was in April, and the third opportunity is July 16.

Evening Tree Walk is June 18 at NCTA Wednesday, June 5, 2019

An evening “campus tree walk” will be Tuesday, June 18 at the University of Nebraska’s agricultural campus in Curtis so the public can learn more about tree and plant care.

Horticulturalist Tee Bush is hosting “Coffee with a Forester” and welcomes Nebraska Forest Service Southwest District Forester Rachel Allison to the Nebraska College of Technical Agriculture for the tour.

CURTIS, Neb. – They came to college prepared to work, ask questions, learn, and weren’t afraid to get their hands dirty.

Nebraska’s Coordinating Commission on Postsecondary Education brought appointed members and staff to Curtis on Wednesday, making their first official visit in nearly a decade to the Nebraska College of Technical Agriculture.

Their role:  to see first-hand the programs, facilities and mission of the University of Nebraska’s two-year campus which specializes in agriculture and veterinary technology.

CURTIS, Neb. - The Nebraska College of Technical Agriculture we can offer educational programming nearly year-round because of partnerships with Nebraska Extension and other educational organizations.

As a two-year college within the University of Nebraska system, NCTA’s academic year matches that of the other four University campuses.  We are a two semester system, beginning before Labor Day, and concluding in early May.
