CURTIS, Neb. – Know the difference between a funnel cloud and tornado?

The National Weather Service will present a free public seminar Monday evening in Curtis for individuals interested in becoming weather spotters.

The session will be from 6:30-8:30 p.m. at NCTA.

Volunteers, area residents and the campus community at the Nebraska College of Technical Agriculture in Curtis are invited to attend the SKYWARN® Spotter training class, said Jennifer McConville, NCTA associate dean.

CURTIS, Neb. - NCTA Aggie Rodeo teams competed April 5-6 at Brookings, South Dakota, in Great Plains Region competition of the National Intercollegiate Rodeo Association.

Athletes from the Nebraska College of Technical Agriculture in Curtis were led by Quentin Anderson of Pierce, Nebraska as he won the long round of calf roping with a time of 11.7 seconds.

“We competed well at Brookings last weekend and next return to the other side of South Dakota,” said Coach Taylor Rossenbach.

SAN ANTONIO, Texas – “Breaking rocks” is the aim when competing in sporting clays.

Top shots of the Nebraska College of Technical Agriculture Shooting Sports Team recently won fifth place among junior colleges at the national championships.

Five team members each took aim at 600 targets over four days at the ACUI Collegiate Clay Targets Championships in San Antonio, Texas.

They competed with other junior colleges and first-time teams to nationals in Division Four, and won a large fifth-place trophy.

CURTIS, Neb. – An agricultural graduate and family farmer from Dodge, Nebraska, will deliver the 2019 commencement address at the University of Nebraska College of Technical Agriculture in Curtis.

Joan (Wieczorek) Ruskamp, a 1980 alumna, will join University of Nebraska leaders in delivering messages at the 1:30 p.m. commencement on Thursday, May 2, announced Ron Rosati, NCTA dean.

Aggies of the Nebraska College of Technical Agriculture are learning by doing in Curtis and also in locations across the country, including Lincoln, Omaha, Texas, Wyoming, and, Kentucky.

Our campus in Curtis is filled with students who are concentrating their studies in our specialties of agriculture and veterinary technology.

NCTA joins NU disaster response Tuesday, April 2, 2019

LINCOLN, Neb. – A coordinated, long-term response to Nebraska communities and families devastated by recent flooding will include NCTA in Curtis, along with the other four campuses of the University of Nebraska system.

In a report presented on Friday to the NU Board of Regents, college leaders were told an estimated recovery from the natural disaster could take nine years or longer.

NCTA community pitches in for disaster relief Tuesday, April 2, 2019

CURTIS, Neb. – Disaster relief for Nebraska farmers and ranchers continues to roll onto the campus of the Nebraska College of Technical Agriculture in Curtis.

 Baled hay, livestock feed and fencing supplies are being collected at the NCTA for distribution to livestock operations affected by the March 13-15 blizzard and catastrophic flooding.

NCTA to host weekend stock dog contest Tuesday, April 2, 2019

CURTIS, Neb. – A final livestock stock dog trial for the season will be Saturday and Sunday at the indoor arena of the Nebraska College of Technical Agriculture.

Stock dogs owned and trained by NCTA students will be competing in a collegiate class on April 6-7, said Judy Bowmaster-Cole, faculty advisor for the NCTA Stock Dog Team.

Other divisions are open to any competitors. Action begins both days at 8 a.m. at the Livestock Teaching Center.
