Former NCTA Valedictorian Travels to Thailand to Save Elephants Thursday, August 25, 2016

This summer, McKenzie Beals, valedictorian of the 2015 class of the Nebraska College of Technical Agriculture, spent two weeks in Thailand helping animals and learning hands-on what it’s like to be a veterinarian. Traveling with the Boston-based Loop Abroad, McKenzie was part of a small team that volunteered giving care at a dog shelter and then spent a week working directly with rescued elephants at an elephant sanctuary.

NCTA Aggies recognize alumni honorees Wednesday, July 6, 2016

Curtis, Neb. – Aggies from Alaska to Illinois returned to their high school and college alma mater in Nebraska to celebrate more than eight decades of history.
The Nebraska College of Technical Agriculture alumni reunion drew more than 140 registrants. The largest contingent was the Class of ’71 from the University of Nebraska School of Technical Agriculture (UNSTA), with 21 graduates.

Jennifer Rittenhouse McConville instituted a college budget, gained a new title and soon adds a new skill on her resume as an accreditation reviewer.
McConville has served as assistant dean of finance and operations at the Nebraska College of Technical Agriculture in Curtis since January, 2015.
One of the primary responsibilities for the former agribusiness assistant professor was to revamp the institution’s annual budgetary process that began July 1, 2015, and balance spending.

Joe Calvo of Bassett, Nebraska, recently signed a letter of intent with the Nebraska College of Technical Agriculture in Curtis to join the NCTA livestock judging team and major in livestock industry management.
NCTA Livestock Judging Team Coach Douglas Smith and NCTA Dean Ron Rosati met with Joe and his, father, Rick Calvo, seated at left during NCTA’s Standard of Excellence Livestock Camp at the NCTA campus.

NCTA Ag Education named top program Tuesday, June 14, 2016
Kearney, Neb. – The agricultural education program at the Nebraska College of Technical Agriculture in Curtis had been named Outstanding Post-Secondary Program in the state.
The Nebraska Agricultural Education Association recognized Dr. Douglas Smith of Curtis during its annual meeting in Kearney last week.
Smith, who is an assistant professor and livestock judging coach, is chairman of NCTA’s Animal Science and Agricultural Education in Agricultural Production Systems.

NCTA Aggie Alumni weekend is here Monday, June 6, 2016
Registration has topped 100 from alumni and friends of the Nebraska College of Technical Agriculture who are gathering in Curtis this weekend for an Aggie high school and college reunion.
Honor classes with large groups include NCTA’s graduates of 2001, Class of ‘71 from the University of Nebraska School of Technical Agriculture (UNSTA), and Class of ‘49, high school graduates of the University of Nebraska School of Agriculture (UNSA).
