NCTA Aggie Alumni weekend is here Monday, June 6, 2016
Registration has topped 100 from alumni and friends of the Nebraska College of Technical Agriculture who are gathering in Curtis this weekend for an Aggie high school and college reunion.
Honor classes with large groups include NCTA’s graduates of 2001, Class of ‘71 from the University of Nebraska School of Technical Agriculture (UNSTA), and Class of ‘49, high school graduates of the University of Nebraska School of Agriculture (UNSA).

UNL students are Curtis Serviceship interns
Two students with the University of Nebraska-Lincoln will be helping the City of Curtis and the Nebraska College of Technical Agriculture with unique projects this summer.
Jamie Mashino of Spencer and Courtney Ruda of North Platte are community interns through the Rural Futures Institute Serviceship Program. They are applying leadership skills during a 9-week project.

NCTA welcomes residence life manager Monday, June 6, 2016
Curtis, Neb. - A native of Falls City has joined the staff at the Nebraska College of Technical Agriculture as manager of residence life for student services and campus activities.
Ryan Bauman, a 2011 graduate of Falls City High School and 2015 graduate of Peru State College, assumed duties Tuesday.
Bauman coordinates student services for campus residents, manages the team of 12 resident assistants and will help plan social and recreational activities for an estimated 150 students who will live on campus this fall.

Aggie barrel racer wins region, advances to Casper Monday, May 16, 2016
Curtis, Neb. – NCTA Aggie barrel racer Lexus Kelsch of McLaughlin, S.D., has won the Great Plains Region of National Intercollegiate Rodeo Association and ranks fifth in the national standings.
She will represent the Nebraska College of Technical Agriculture (NCTA) at Curtis, Neb., at the College National Finals Rodeo in Casper, Wyo., on June 12-18.
The NCTA Aggies completed their spring rodeo schedule last weekend at North Dakota State University in Dickinson with Kelsch as the sole national qualifier, said Bridger Chykta, NCTA rodeo coach.

NCTA Ranch Horse Team rides strong at Sterling Monday, May 16, 2016
Sterling, Colo. – The Aggie Ranch Horse team concluded its Spring, 2016 season with a strong finish at the Northeastern Junior College Showdown in Sterling.
“This was a wonderful show and perfect way to end the collegiate season,” said NCTA Coach Joanna Hergenreder. Several of the students rode younger “green” horses as well as their regular season mounts and competed well.

Max Melvin of Sterling, Nebraska, signed a letter of intent Thursday with the Nebraska College of Technical Agriculture to join the NCTA livestock judging team and agriculture production systems program in the fall. Max attended Freeman Public Schools in Adams.

NCTA graduates encouraged to serve Wednesday, May 11, 2016
Graduates in the Nebraska College of Technical Agriculture Class of 2016 were challenged to pursue their agricultural professions with vigor while producing food and agricultural technologies around the globe, and to treat others with love and respect, advised Nebraska Governor Pete Ricketts during commencement exercises on Thursday.
Earning a paycheck and being a viable member of society is important, but so is stewardship of community and compassion and love for others, Ricketts said to 67 NCTA graduates.

Agronomy students are Aggies of the Month Thursday, April 28, 2016
Two agronomy majors have been tapped as Aggies of the Month at the University of Nebraska College of Technical Agriculture.
Ross Steward, Littleton, Colo., and Amelia Petska, Blue Hill, Neb., were selected by faculty and staff as NCTA Aggies for April, announced Ron Rosati, NCTA dean.
“Ross and Amelia bring enthusiasm and a passion to campus for learning about crop science and careers in agronomy,” said Rosati. “Each contributes greatly to their respective competition teams in crops judging and rodeo team, and are outstanding representatives of NCTA’s Class of 2016.”

Two Aggies Awarded Regents Scholarships Thursday, April 28, 2016
Curtis, Neb. - Regents Scholarships to the University of Nebraska will be awarded to two graduating sophomores from the Nebraska College of Technical Agriculture.
Haley Rogers of Lexington and Calvin DeVries of Fairfield were notified this month they will earn the Regents awards for their junior and senior years of study at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln.
Rogers will study agriculture education with plans to be an agriculture teacher. DeVries plans to study animal science and go into veterinary medicine.
