First NCTA dean candidate visit is March 11 Tuesday, March 3, 2020

CURTIS, Neb. – Larry A. Gossen, Ph.D., a candidate being considered as the new Dean of the Nebraska College of Technical Agriculture will visit Curtis on Wednesday, March 11 for a seminar and public reception.

Dr. Gossen currently is a State FFA Advisor with the Nebraska Department of Education, and is based in Lincoln. His career in agriculture education and FFA organizations spans over 40 years in Kansas, Missouri, Illinois and Nebraska.

NCTA Dean’s Message

These and many other descriptors were heard last week on the campus of the Nebraska College of Technical Agriculture as we hosted visitors from a regional review team with the Higher Learning Commission.

Alumni, business and community partners greeted the four educator-administrators at a breakfast – and shared the merits of NCTA.

NCTA Dean’s Message

Each learning environment and opportunity that our students encounter at the Nebraska College of Technical Agriculture in Curtis has a takeaway.

For some in the hands-on learning laboratories of the NCTA campus, it may be refining one of the 100-plus skills required of veterinary technicians.

Or, for eighth-graders who visit during customized STEM program dates, it may be witnessing the digestive aspects of a ruminant animal.

CURTIS, Neb. – Nine students at the Nebraska College of Technical Agriculture in Curtis completed their academic programs for an Associate Degree in December.

All nine received degrees in Agriculture Production Systems (APS) with various emphasis areas.

The graduates, all Nebraskans, are listed by town, APS and study emphasis:

Madisyn Cutler, Elsie, APS, livestock management

Rylee Ehmke, Weeping Water, APS, livestock management

Sarah Fitzgerald, Doniphan, APS, equine management

Ross Steward is applying complementary college degrees in agronomy to on-farm research on irrigated agriculture.

Since graduating in 2016 from the Nebraska College of Technical Agriculture in Curtis and three years later from Colorado State University, Steward now oversees a 40-acre research facility in northeastern Colorado.

CURTIS, Neb. – The University of Nebraska has launched a national search for the next Dean of the Nebraska College of Technical Agriculture.

“The university is seeking an innovative, dynamic, and entrepreneurial individual in technical agriculture and higher education who will provide intellectual and strategic leadership for the college in Curtis,” said Michael Boehm, vice president of Agriculture and Natural Resources at the University of Nebraska.
