“Semper Fidelis” often is included at the end of emails and letters sent from Tyler Faber. In Latin, the motto of the United States Marine Corps means “always faithful.”
Each November, the IT technician who works amid computers, monitors and tech equipment from a first-floor office in Ag Hall on the campus of the Nebraska College of Technical Agriculture in Curtis observes two significant events.
The 245th birthday of the Marine Corps was Tuesday, a day ahead of Veterans Day on November 11.

NCTA Dean’s Message by Larry Gossen, Ph.D.
Now in our 12th week of in-person classes since starting the fall semester on August 24, our Aggie community continues to work hard on keeping the campus a healthy and safe environment for education.
I commend the diligence of all as we social distance, utilize facial coverings, and practice healthy choices by avoiding large groups.
As a college, we have been actively engaged in planning and following health processes since two dozen students returned to campus for summer session in June.

TORRINGTON, Wyo. – Seven Ranch Horse students from NCTA competed last weekend in their second live show of the fall season.
The Colorado Northeastern Junior College Ranch Horse Versatility Team hosted the Fall Showdown at the Goshen County Fairgrounds.
“We had a wonderful weekend in Torrington with horses and riders alike putting together runs that showed their talent, skill and progress,” said Coach Joanna Hergenreder.

CURTIS, Neb. – Brook Bradford and Kylee Bosard have known for several months where they wanted to begin their college career in January. They’ve applied and been accepted as incoming freshmen.
Each made a campus visit last month to “Discovery Day” at NCTA in Curtis. That sealed the deal.

The NCTA Student Senate has named Jo Popp as the Faculty/Staff Member of the Month for November. She was presented a certificate from Student Senate representative Taylor Hendrix.
What is your role at NCTA?
I work with the Food Service department, primarily at Chandie’s Castle, but sometimes at Aggie Dining, if needed. That is a 9-month position. In the summer, I may help with maintenance and upkeep in the residence halls.

NCTA Dean’s Message by Larry Gossen, Ph.D.
College students on a small campus such as NCTA are an inspiration to me.
I value their enthusiasm, ideas, their broadened views “outside the box” and their determination or undaunted nature.
At the same time, however, many of these teenagers and young adults who hail from farms and ranches in the Midwest are some of the most appreciative, polite, and service-oriented citizens around. They are patriotic and do not take their freedoms for granted.

Gillian Brinker, who was a state FFA officer in her home state of Alaska, is now active in promoting FFA in another “aska” environment.
Brinker is a freshman studying equine industry management at the Nebraska College of Technical Agriculture in Curtis.
She has been involved in FFA activities for eight year, and most recently was the 2019-2020 Alaska FFA Association State Vice President.

NCTA salutes American FFA Degree, Aggie Club Monday, November 2, 2020

As the 93rd annual National FFA Convention and Expo was underway last week in the first-ever virtual format, the Aggie Collegiate FFA/4-H Club and NCTA Dean Larry Gossen salute all FFA members and those who are received national recognition with American FFA Degrees.
Eleven NCTA students or graduates were on the list in 2020 to receive their American FFA Degrees. Less than 1% of FFA members earn the prestigious honor.
