A recent trip from southwestern Nebraska to Utah and back confirmed for NCTA students that their college program in agronomy is a solid investment.
Four sophomores studying at the Nebraska College of Technical Agriculture in Curtis traveled to Salt Lake City with their professor, Dr. Brad Ramsdale, for the American Society of Agronomy annual meeting.

Our Aggie students are sharing significant experiences here at campus and as they travel from Curtis representing the Nebraska College of Technical Agriculture.
Agronomy students placed fourth among 18 colleges at American Society of Agronomy annual meetings, thanks to the outstanding preparation in the classroom and field laboratories by Professor Brad Ramsdale.

Day for dogs at the spa Monday, November 15, 2021

Dogs can get spiffed up and ready for Thanksgiving at the NCTA Dog Spa on Saturday (Nov. 20).
Veterinary technician students will bath dogs, trim toenails, and clean the animal’s ears during individual sessions from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Grooming occurs at the Veterinary Teaching Clinic of the Nebraska College of Technical Agriculture in Curtis.
The project is hosted by the Student Technicians of Veterinary Medicine Association, said Hannah Murray, STVMA president.

Native American Heritage Month program is Tuesday Wednesday, November 10, 2021

Kelley Meyer Sexson will present a history and cultural message at NCTA on Tuesday (Nov. 16) with a program in observance of Native American Heritage Month.
The public presentation begins at 7 p.m. in the Education Center auditorium of the Nebraska College of Technical Agriculture.
Sexson and her husband, Rick, are both graduates of the University of Nebraska School of Technical Agriculture. They are cattle producers at the Sexson Ranch located between Wellfleet and Dickens, in Lincoln County.

NCTA thanks Aggie alumnus, veteran Wednesday, November 10, 2021
An Ohio native looking for opportunities after his military service came to Nebraska more than a decade ago and found them in agriculture.
In recognition of Veterans Day 2021, the Nebraska College of Technical Agriculture commends the service and dedication of NCTA alumnus Wade Shipman, who served with the U.S. Marine Corps for eight years.
His journey started near Beaufort, South Carolina as a recruit entering boot camp at Parris Island.

The recent National FFA Convention in Indianapolis concluded several months of recruiting on the road for my fellow recruiter Rulon Taylor and me.
These travels included state and national high school rodeo events, state FFA conventions, junior livestock shows, the Nebraska State Fair, Husker Harvest Days, and nearly 30 college fairs across Nebraska.

Club hosts agribusiness panel Nov. 11 Monday, November 8, 2021

Agriculture entrepreneurs will share experiences, successes and challenges Thursday evening as panelists hosted by the Collegiate Cattlemen club.
The student organization invites all Aggies of the Nebraska College of Technical Agriculture to attend.
The program will benefit those interested in livestock production, equine management, agribusiness, animal health and other agricultural-related businesses, said Cassidy Frey, club president.

Stock grazing session is Wednesday Saturday, November 6, 2021
A North Dakota couple can relate to limited availability of rangeland for livestock grazing in parts of southwest and western Nebraska.
Josh and Tara Dukart, who own and manage the Seek First Ranch in western North Dakota, are speakers with the 2021 Nebraska Grazing Land Traveling Road Show which will be Wednesday evening (Nov. 10) in Curtis.
The 4:45 to 9 p.m. session at the Nebraska College of Technical Agriculture Education Center is open to the public, said Ron Bolze, coordinator for the Nebraska Grazing Lands Coalition.

Discovery Day to showcase agriculture Friday, November 5, 2021

The second Aggie Discovery Day of autumn is Monday, Nov. 15 at the Nebraska College of Technical Agriculture.
“Prospective college students and their parents or friends who attend Discovery Day can learn a lot about the college, people and programs in just a few hours at our campus,” says Braden Johnson.
The second-year Aggie from Gering is majoring in livestock management. Johnson said he had two goals when he started his FFA program nearly six years ago at Bayard High School.

Time has flown by for all of us the Nebraska College of Technical Agriculture, and here we are with six weeks of classes left in the semester before final exams.
Come November, it’s easy for students to lose focus with so many activities and demands on their time, and much harder to realign priorities if one tends to easily stray from the path of self-discipline.
