NCTA Dean’s Message by Larry Gossen, Ph.D.

Give Aggie students two days chatting with other young ag producers and it’s likely that investment pays off.

Our students from the Nebraska College of Technical Agriculture will frequently return from an industry conference or a class field trip with greater resolve for their educational pathway or career choice.

They like sharing ideas, asking questions, and being part of group with similar interests.

Rulon Taylor has spent most of life around agriculture.

Coming from a family of ag producers and educators, he is on familiar ground whether in a pasture sorting cattle, talking with members of an FFA chapter, or meeting rodeo athletes in the arena.

“This past week I visited with about 100 students, at Ainsworth High School, and then hosted two school groups here on campus,” said Taylor, one of two recruiting coordinators with the Nebraska College of Technical Agriculture at Curtis.

NCTA Dean’s Message by Larry Gossen, Ph.D.

An array of interesting conversations can result when cattle and camels are used in the same sentence.

Our Aggie students expect to learn about the cattle industry when they enroll for animal science classes at the Nebraska College of Technical Agriculture. But camels?

And, even more interesting a camel dairy?

Last week, NCTA had students majoring in animal science or agribusiness who traveled to Colorado for the National Western Stock Show.
