NCTA Aggies win K State crops contest Tuesday, March 13, 2018

A second winning sweep is in the books for an agronomy foursome from the Nebraska College of Technical Agriculture at Curtis.

Lee Jespersen, a Hemingford, Nebraska, farmer and NCTA student majoring in diversified agriculture led the Aggies Crops Judging Team to first-place honors at the Kansas State University Crops Judging Contest in Manhattan.

In addition to Jespersen were 2nd, Dalon Koubek, North Platte; 3rd, Nate Montanez, Grand Island; and 4th, Will Kusant, Comstock.

CURTIS, Neb. – Sadie Christensen has been named the Aggie of the Month for February 2018 at the Nebraska College of Technical Agriculture.

The 2016 graduate of Arnold High School is an NCTA sophomore majoring in Agriculture Production Systems – Diversified Agriculture and Ag Business Management.  She assists with various tasks in the NCTA Dean’s Office.

CURTIS, Neb. – A slight of hand may be just the right technique for coaxing a wary goat, lamb or cow into the pen or corral.

Add in the well-trained stock dog and gentle persuasion is more convincing.

Stock dog handlers and about 50 of their canine partners are expected from three or four states in Curtis this weekend, finding great weather, hearty stock and energetic college students running the show.

NCTA 2018 Clay Target Match is March 3-4 Tuesday, February 27, 2018

NORTH PLATTE, Neb. – Collegiate teams will test clay target skills in the NCTA 2018 Clay Target Invitational at two North Platte area ranges over the weekend.

The Nebraska College of Technical Agriculture Shotgun Sports Team will host three other Prairie Circuit region teams on Saturday and Sunday.

“The NCTA Aggies will have eight students competing in sporting clay, skeet doubles and 5-stand sporting clays,” said Coach Alan Taylor.

MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. – Four agribusiness students from the Nebraska College of Technical Agriculture in Curtis, Neb., recently attended the College Conference on Cooperatives in Minneapolis.

Nate Letcher and Riley Abbott, both of Hay Springs, Erica Mowery of Middleburg, Pennsylvania, and Taylor Hovie of Grand Island, joined 15 other Nebraskans at the CCOC events on February 16-18, said Jeremy Sievers, NCTA adviser.
