CURTIS, Neb. – Spectators can stop by a reining and horsemanship clinic in Curtis this weekend as college students gain tips on working with their equine counterparts.

The Nebraska College of Technical Agriculture has been charged by the Nebraska Legislature with “expediently responding to the emerging workforce development needs of Nebraska’s agricultural industries”, according to state guidance documents.

The college takes that charge seriously as demonstrated by the recent development of a poultry science program in Curtis.

CURTIS, Neb. – The Crops Judging Team from the Nebraska College of Technical Agriculture at Curtis made a Saturday sweep in their opening contest for the year.

NCTA Aggies won first place team among 2-year colleges while the Aggie students swept the top four individual placings in a contest at Oklahoma Panhandle State University, said Coach Brad Ramsdale, agronomy professor.

CURTIS, Neb. - An Omaha student who wants to help dogs and companion animals stay healthy has been named an NCTA Aggie of the Month.           

Rosa Jurado, first-year student at the Nebraska College of Technical Agriculture in Curtis, has been named Aggie of the Month for January.

The 2017 graduate of Benson High School studies Veterinary Technology Systems.  She was nominated by Eric Reed, advisor for the NCTA Yearbook, of which Jurado is a co-editor.

STARKVILLE, Miss. – Leaders from the Nebraska College of Technical Agriculture and Mississippi State University signed a cooperative agreement Wednesday [Feb. 7] designed to train workforce entrants for the midwestern state’s burgeoning poultry industry.

CURTIS, Neb.  – Cash Talamantez of Lisco, Nebraska, is an Aggie of the Month at the Nebraska College of Technical Agriculture.      

He was named Aggie of the Month for December, 2017, said NCTA Dean Ron Rosati.

Talamantez was selected by NCTA faculty, staff and peers in various leadership positions at the two-year agriculture college.

The 2015 graduate of Bridgeport High School plans a career in a western Nebraska agriculture industry after his graduation in May.

When Lacey Johnson first came to college at Curtis in 2007 her sights were set primarily on academics in veterinary technology.

Along the way during three years of studies, she was influenced by Professor Judy Bowmaster-Cole in a dog obedience class. Lacey gained interest in how a well-trained stock dog could help in safe handling of livestock.

DENVER - Livestock judging students from the Nebraska College of Technical Agriculture in Curtis won 20th High Team overall in collegiate competition at the 112th National Western Stock Show and Rodeo.

“We had a solid couple of days and the team placed the highest of an Aggie team at the Denver contest in at least 10 years, perhaps longer,” said Coach Doug Smith.
