By NCTA Dean Ron Rosati, Ph.D.

September is a busy month for agriculture as producers are harvesting crops, weaning spring–born calves and drilling fall cover crops and winter wheat.

The bounty from hard work and commitment to goals also pays off for college students engaged in academic enrichment activities at the Nebraska College of Technical Agriculture.

Our Aggie teams in several collegiate sports have started their fall competitions. Individually, they are testing skills each has honed in classes and programs at NCTA in Curtis.

Animals are an important part of campus life at the Nebraska College of Technical Agriculture in Curtis. They are an essential component of our hands-on experiences in veterinary technology and animal science. Animals are part of many of our teams and clubs. And animals can provide support and companionship for students away from home for the first time.

Some NCTA Aggie students bring their horses to Curtis for collegiate competition as members of the NCTA Ranch Horse or NCTA Rodeo Teams.

Dean’s Column by Ron Rosati, PhD

When Lacey Johnson first came to college at Curtis in 2007 her sights were set primarily on academics in veterinary technology.

Along the way during three years of studies, she was influenced by Professor Judy Bowmaster-Cole in a dog obedience class. Lacey gained interest in how a well-trained stock dog could help in safe handling of livestock.
