LINCOLN, Neb. – A cold and windy weekend greeted the NCTA Aggie Shotgun Sports Team from Curtis as they competed in the Doane Tiger Invitational Shotgun Sports meet in Lincoln.

The Nebraska College of Technical Agriculture’s Aggie team placed fourth in the Saturday and Sunday contest held at the Lincoln Trap and Skeet Club, home range for the Tigers.

Parents appreciating college faculty and staff for their work with students is a tradition at the University of Nebraska and the Nebraska College of Technical Agriculture at Curtis.

Three faculty members were honored recently with the University of Nebraska-Lincoln’s Parent Association certificates of merit for the 2018 academic year, said NCTA Dean Ron Rosati.

Seven student members of the Women in Ag club from the Nebraska College of Technical Agriculture at Curtis heard about marketing, policy, leadership and more as they networked at the 34th annual WIA conference on Feb. 21-22.

CURTIS, Neb. – Ten Nebraska junior and senior high schools participated in two science and engineering fairs recently in Curtis.

One team from Adams Central High School in Hastings now advances to an international fair in Arizona.

FORT COLLINS, Colo. –Five riders with the NCTA Ranch Horse Team at Curtis were recently back in the show ring at a weekend Working Cow Stock Horse contest in Colorado.

“We had a great start to our winter and spring series at Colorado State University,” said Joanna Hergenreder, assistant professor of animal science and coach of the NCTA Ranch Horse Team.

CURTIS, Neb. – Agricultural issues and advocacy for Nebraska livestock production will be center stage on Thursday, March 14 at the Nebraska College of Technical Agriculture.

Trent Loos is a radio commentator, agricultural producer who farms with his family near Hazard, Nebraska, and a spokesman for a variety of issues and platforms in national and global food production.

He will give a public presentation for Aggie students, farmers, ranchers and others wanting to learn more about advocacy on behalf of the agriculture industry.

There’s no doubt about it, agriculturalists are hardy stock.

While Nebraska ranchers and livestock producers are battling frigid temperatures and winter conditions across the state, our Aggie students are facing this same dose of an extra harsh winter at campus.

Animal science and several veterinary technology majors at the Nebraska College of Technical Agriculture in Curtis take a shift in calving rotation, checking expectant cows soon due to deliver.

Workforce development is a priority for many young people seeking skills in agricultural trades and sciences.

During high school, Donovan Buss took advantage of college partnerships that York Public Schools forged with the Nebraska College of Technical Agriculture.

Buss enrolled in dual credit or “concurrent” courses, several of which were NCTA diversified agriculture courses, which enabled him to graduate from YHS in May 2017 with enough credits to enroll for NCTA that fall as a college sophomore.

MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. – Four students from the Nebraska College of Technical Agriculture in Curtis, Neb., recently attended the College Conference on Cooperatives in Minneapolis.

It was very interesting and opened my eyes to the different types of cooperatives they have in Minnesota,” said Huntra Christensen of Lincoln.
