The institution that is now NCTA started in 1913 as a residential high school for boys and girls. Our early faculty welcomed young men studying agriculture, and young women, in “normal training” as teachers and in home economics.

They were part of land grant institutions across the United States which first established high schools, then evolved into fulltime college campuses.

This week marks a festive occasion for the last class of senior students who graduated from that original high school in Curtis.

September is a busy month for agriculture as producers are harvesting crops, weaning spring–born calves and drilling fall cover crops and winter wheat.

The bounty from hard work and commitment to goals also pays off for college students engaged in academic enrichment activities at the Nebraska College of Technical Agriculture.

Our Aggie teams in several collegiate sports have started their fall competitions. Individually, they are testing skills each has honed in classes and programs at NCTA in Curtis.

Twelve resident assistants, or RA’s, oversee daily life in three residence halls at the Nebraska College of Technical Agriculture campus in Curtis.

Ten RA’s are Nebraskans while two hail from Kansas and Texas.

Animals are an important part of campus life at the Nebraska College of Technical Agriculture in Curtis. They are an essential component of our hands-on experiences in veterinary technology and animal science. Animals are part of many of our teams and clubs. And animals can provide support and companionship for students away from home for the first time.

Some NCTA Aggie students bring their horses to Curtis for collegiate competition as members of the NCTA Ranch Horse or NCTA Rodeo Teams.
